Ever since I have started making things from scratch, my family won’t allow me to buy any of the store bought things if I can make them. No pressure or anything. 😅 I’ve got to agree though because homemade recipes are the best! Today I’ll show you how to make homemade pizza dough and from scratch BBQ sauce.
I did get this recipe from the Magnolia Table recipe book but I have changed some ingredients/measurements according to my liking. Because we don’t do any kind of vinegar over here LOL.
I’ve posted a reel on my Instagram showing all the steps if you’d like to follow along so I don’t bore you with a million individual pictures in this post.
Homemade BBQ Chicken Pizza

Ingredients:
CLICK HERE FOR THE PIZZA DOUGH RECIPE – the only thing I changed is that I use 1/4 cup olive oil instead of 1/2 cup.
For the sauce:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 5 tbsp salted butter
- 1 tbsp stone ground mustard
- 1 tsp worcestershire
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
For the toppings:
- cooked shredded chicken or cut into thin strips
- shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- caramelized onions
Make It:
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- In a saucepan, combine all ingredients for the sauce and bring to boil over medium heat, stirring continuously. Remove from heat and cool for about 20-25 minutes.
- You can take this time to cook your chicken and make some caramelized onions.
- Once your dough has risen, punch the dough to release all the gases and bubbles. This is my favorite part LOL.
- Shape the dough into a ball and roll out, or shape into, about a 14 inch round on a pizza stone.
- Spread on as much bbq sauce as you prefer, leaving about a 1/2 inch border.
- Top with chicken and shredded cheese.
- Bake for 20 mins or until crust is lightly golden brown.
- Remove pizza from the oven and top with caramelized onions and a little bit more cheese. Pop back into the oven for about 5 mins.
- Remove pizza from the oven, let cool for about 5 mins then cut into slices and enjoy!
